Ty Walker"When I first moved from Columbus Ohio to Wilmington, I really didn't want to be here, because I always thought that a small town had nothing to offer. Then I began attending the Club. The Club showed me that even though the town was small, there was a lot of love in the building. The Club has helped mold me into the man I am today. It is a home away from home." Ty Walker became a CBGCW alumni in 2008 and is currently attending Wake Forest University on a Basketball Scholarship |

Lamar Caar"I didn't really know anything about music until I became a member at CBGCW. I remember going on a field trip to the national Historically Black College and University Battle of the Bands competition and knowing in that instance, I wanted to be in a marching band." Lamar took to the drums in 6th grade when he joined Drum & Drill. He became a CBGCW alumni in 2008 and prior to leaving for college at Florida A&M on a music scholarship he volunteered at the Club helping the Drum & Drill team perfect their sounds and moves. |

TaNeisha Daise"I was a quiet person before I came to CBGCW. At the Club, I was introduced to many other kids, some like me and some not. I was able to make friends... a lot of friends! The Club taught me that the only way to meet amazing people is to go right out and introduce your self and find out firsthand." TaNeisha Daise received a full scholarship to attend Cape Fear Community College, the first step in her goal of getting her MBA and starting her own business. |

MeadowLark LemonAt age 11, Meadowlark watched a newsreel at a local cinema featuring the Harlem Globetrotters and a dream was born. Yet it only became reality through hard work and perseverance, often as a teenager MeadowLark practiced 8-12 hours a day on the court polishing the skills that led him to become the "Clown Prince" of Basketball. When not with his traveling basketball team "The Harlem All-Stars", Meadowlark spends most of his time preaching the Word of God and speaking to children about the dangers of gang activity. |
