Donations can take many forms, but the most precious is certainly time. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Community Boys & Girls Club. It only takes one person to make a lifelong difference in a child's life...and that person could be you.
You can download a volunteer form on this website; be sure to fill in any additional skills that you have which might be beneficial to our members. Print out a copy of the form to bring in to your appointment, and email Program Director Kristin Zachary to schedule a time to meet with her.
You should expect a phone call or email within a couple of weeks. Thank you for volunteering for the Community Boys & Girls Club!

Some of our volunteers prefer to work with our members during their daily routine, but some of our volunteers are able to use their skills to teach or inspire our kids. Here are a few of the volunteers and community partners we've had at CB&GCW who have lent their talents to enrich the lives of our members:
Volunteer Teachers/Instructors
- Rob Ellis, the weatherman for WECT, spoke to our members about his job as a meteorologist.
- Sports reporter Rachel George and Editor Jason Lilly of the Star-News have been working with our journalism club members to produce a Club Newsletter, as well as teaching them how to be reporters.
- Tim Pulliam, formerly of WWAY TV3, instructed our members on broadcast news reporting.
- The Wilmington SeaDawgs held a basketball clinic at CB&GCW.
- The Wilmington Sea Dolls held a dance clinic for our members at CB&GCW.
- Physical Grafeeti organized a dance clinic for our members.
- Leisa Meeting & Jack Solomon are teaching filmography and editing to our members for our "ReelDeal Film Program."
- Cape Fear Community College's English Department has been teaching our members the mechanics of poetry with our "Poetry Academy."
- Megan Shannahan with Crescent State Bank taught our members techniques to save money for our "Teach Children to Save" program.
- Marcus Smith at NewBridge Bank helped instruct our members for our MoneyMatters program.
Volunteer Performers & Fun Events
- John Hirchak of the Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington walking tours took our members on a ghostly tour of downtown Wilmington.
- Joshua Thompson of UNCW entertained our members with a Hot 8 Brass Band performance.
- Barb McKeever with Pilot Puppets put on a puppet show for our members.
- UNCW's Upperman Center held a Black History Quiz Bowl for our members.
You don't have to be an expert to help our members. We need people of all talents and interests, and if you'd rather just help out with homework or join in athletics, we need you too!
