In order to provide our youth with the chance to explore their artistic skills and give them an opportunity for self-expression, CB&GCW provides Club youth with a variety of opportunities to be creative. Programs allow them to focus on painting, dancing, music, poetry and the digital arts. Art programs include:
ImageMakers: National Photography Program
Funded by the Circuit City Foundation, this comprehensive photography program encourages girls and boys to learn and practice photography, expressing themselves in creative and innovative ways. The national initiative delivers a state-of-the-art photography curriculum, provides photographic resources and opportunities for Club members to compete on a national level. ImageMakers provides local, regional and national recognition through an annual photography contest. Winning photos will be displayed nationwide at museums as well as at BGCA's annual National Conference.
Media Links Program
Through the generosity of the Links Foundation, the Community Boys & Girls Club began its Media Links Project. The program seeks to introduce Club Teens to the world of print, web and video media by providing them access to industry professionals, as well as hands on learning experiences. The program will introduce youth to journalism, graphic design, web design, photography, video news delivery and editing techniques, and documentary filmmaking. This summer, we will have a Club Video Blog, showing everyone what the CB&GCW is all about. For more information, visit our Media Links page!
